ijsaacvleeschdraagerjaantjelutheraanIJsaäc Vleeschdraager was born on the 27th January 1881 as the eldest son of Isaäc Vleeschdraager and Sara Jacobs. The family consisted later of 4 boys and 4 girls.

At first he worked, as his father, in the diamond industry. After this business became poor he worked as a commercial representative in photographic articles. As a very good amateur photographer, he made his profession out of his hobby.

Jaantje Luteraan was born on the 15th July 1881 in Zwolle. Her parents were Eduard Luteraan and Aaltje Stibbe. She had 2 sisters and 1 brother. As both parents died very young, she and one sister and her younger brother were admitted in the “Centraal Israëlitisch Weeshuis”, a Jewish orphanage in Utrecht. As she was very intelligent, she got the chance to become a teacher.

How my grandparents met, I do not know, may be a “schadchen” made this couple. They married in Weesp on the 9th of August 1905.

On the 17th May 1909 their only son, my father, Eduard Isaäc Vleeschdraager was born in Amsterdam.

The 30th of December 1942 IJsaäc entered the police station near his house to report that he lost his keys. This police station co-operated with the occupiers. They sent him straight away to transit camp Westerbork.

Jaantje, who worked as a teacher in the Jewish Kraaipanschool arrived later, on the 13th April 1943 in Westerbork. Both were on the transport to Sobibor of April 20, where they were murdered on arrival on April 23.
